Bob and Melody Barnhart lived in southwest Florida, but they had always loved escaping to the mountains. When they purchased a property in Western North Carolina with breathtaking views, they began designing a getaway cabin of their own.
As owners of a successful home design firm in Florida, they naturally took on the design themselves. They knew exactly what they wanted—a true log home with full-round logs that still looked like logs.
Their search for inspiration eventually led them to Stonewood.
Designed Around Their Vision
The Barnharts drew ideas from the Fairmont and Minocqua cabin models, then developed their own preliminary design specifically for their mountain property.
They sent their proposed design to Stonewood, where it was developed into comprehensive plans ready for construction.
The result was not a standard plan. It was their design, shaped around their building site and the way they envisioned their mountain retreat.
The Details Made the Difference
When it was time to bring the home to the site, the erection of the house went just as planned.
The Barnharts appreciated the knowledge and hard work of the supervisor sent to their jobsite.
But it was the finished craftsmanship that ultimately stood out.
