2004
A Simple Beginning
The idea was uncomplicated.
A comfortable place on the lake where family and friends could gather, spend weekends, fish, relax and make memories.
The result was an 800-square-foot handcrafted log cabin.
And it didn’t stay “just a cabin” for long.
2023
The Vision Returns
By 2023, the Thompson family was ready for something more.
Not a replacement.
An expansion that would give the property the space and character they wanted while respecting what was already there.
Stonewood developed the new design and construction-ready drawings in 2023.
WESTERN RED CEDAR
Turning the Logs Into the Future
Then the drawings became a log post and beam home.
Western Red Cedar was selected, shaped and prepared for the new structure.
From raw logs to carefully crafted members, every piece began taking its place in the larger vision.
2024
The New Chapter Takes Shape
The finished logs traveled 2,378 miles before arriving at the Thompson property in Louisiana.
Then the real transformation began.
Piece by piece, the new frame rose around the original cabin.
What had existed as a simple lakeside retreat was becoming something much larger, while the original cabin remained at its heart.

Meets New
The original cabin wasn’t erased.
It became part of something much larger.
The finished residence brings the original stacked-log cabin together with the new Western Red Cedar Post & Beam addition, creating one home with two distinct chapters of Stonewood craftsmanship.
